Hey there Simko I was wondering if you had some measurements for the shims you used behind the wheels just looking to get close without too much back and forth putting it together and taking it apart a bunch of times and getting angry I'm ready for final assembly here after paint and wanna save myself some headache

After doing three grinders, I can say that each one was slightly different.

I would get an assortment of 1/2” ID shims (0.060, 0.030, 0.015, 0.010) and start with all of the wheels with just a 0.060” shim between the wheel and the plate and enough shims to make up the extra space on the outside of the shoulder bolt. I didn’t get too technical with the make up shims because the wheel pretty much stayed in place while testing. Once I got it pretty close then I added shims to the outside to take up all of the slop. If you need to shim the inside anymore, just move shims from outside the wheel to inside (between the wheel and platen plate).

It didn’t really take too long to do each one (30-45 mins) and that was really taking my time.

Put on a low grit belt and run the grinder slow so that you can try to stop it before it runs into anything.

Start with the platen wheels and get the belt running centered on those two wheels. After that is centered, look at the tracking wheel to see how much it needs to come out for the belt to be centered on it.

The tracking wheel for whatever reason needed about .120” to get the belt to run centered on it while it was centered on the platen wheels. Doesn’t make sense because it is on the same plane as the other wheels?!?

Sorry I can’t give you any better info. Each grinder is going to be different.
