Hi from Brazil

Post by Ronie » Sun Dec 10, 2017 2:26 am

I am Ronie, an amateur knife maker trying to build my own belt grinder.

Thanks for sharing the info.

I would like to know if the pieces in the CAD project are in actual size and I could to email the dxf file to order the laser cutting without any corrections.

Sorry for my bad english.

Hi Ronie,

I was able to send the files by email to the fabricator and they had no issues with the sizing. Of course if they say the grinder is going to be 3 cm x 1.5 cm that should be an alarm bell. LOL

In Brazil do you have IEC motor or NEMA motor? There is a link to the IEC/metric files. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=44

Dan

The Brazilian standard requires the IEC, but I have also found the NEMA standard for sale on some sites.

Thanks for share the metric file.

Hi guys. I sent the file "375 cut w spacers.dxf" to a laser cutting company in my city, but the engineering department refused it and demanded the drawings with the actual measurements.

They claim to be unsure if the pieces will come out in the correct size if they use the file without any reference.

Has anyone ever had problems like this?

Hello. You should have read my report on the problem I had with the laser cutting company in my area. I've been thinking that if all those parts are drawn with the correct proportions, you just know the size of one of them so that everything is cut correctly, right? If yes, could you tell me the exact cut diameter of the NEMA motor's docking circle? I believe that with this I will not have any problems.

According to my 11-4 and 10-3 files, the NEMA motor face opening is 4.55".
