Re: Leon's Build

The grinder runs without any reported hiccups. Tracking is dead on after I added a shim between the many washers.

Leon's Build

Sorry for the delay in posting a pic of my build but I have been dealing with some stuff life has dealt me in the past year. It's from the original design submitted by the admin.

Re: Water jet Service

Hi, I have access to a waterjet, powder coating, and discount metal. Once I create my grinder, I could provide materials to those wanting to build this grinder. I do have to pay for time spent using the waterjet, so this would be factored in. By the way, I live in MD. LeonJ :D Leon, Where in MD do ...

Re: Water jet Service

I have to agree with your assessment. My shop owner just raised the fee for me to use the water jet which makes this option more expensive. The laser is a more affordable at this point and I plan on going this route.

Re: Water jet Service

Shipping charges are around $36 USD through USPS. This is a flat fee for anywhere in the U.S.

My waterjet is down for now. Once fixed I feel that all the metal will fit.

I will post photos once I cut the first one. Heck, I'll probably powder coat it to see what it looks like.

Re: Water jet Service

I have received quotes for the metal from two sources and it appears that $350 USD is in the ball park. That includes acquiring the material and cutting on the waterjet.

Powder coating (approximately $75 USD) and shipping would be in addition to the above.

Re: Water jet Service

Dan,

I have to wait until Monday (Tuesday at the latest) to get a quote on the metal.

I also have Fusion 360 and SolidWorks. So I can also provide files if anyone is interested.

Leon from Maryland

Hi. I've always been interested in creating my own knives and thanks to Dan I have begun my journey. Hope to create my grinder and learn from other on what to do as well as what not to do.

I've already created some blunders. But I credit that to lessons learned.
